Optical treatments

Manufacture of optical coatings

Optical surface treatments are used to optimize the reflection, transmission and resistance properties of optical components. Applied to lenses, filters, mirrors, prisms or reflectors, they ensure the spectral performance, durability and mechanical stability of optical assemblies, even in the most demanding environments.

Our coatings are produced under vacuum by physical or chemical vapor deposition (EBE: Electron Beam Evaporation, IAD...) on flat or curved glass, metal or quartz substrates.

These processes guarantee high adhesion, excellent homogeneity and lasting spectral stability, from near ultraviolet (UV) to far infrared (IR).

Visit optical coatings can be applied to precision parts or lighting reflectors, depending on the function required: maximum transmission, selective reflection, thermal management or surface protection.

Anti-reflective (AR) coatings

Anti-reflective coating reduces stray reflections and increases light transmission. These coatings are essential on lenses, prisms and optical portholes to guarantee the best possible optimum image contrast and more precise measurements. They are made in single or multilayer dielectric layers, tuned to the desired wavelength or spectral band.

Typical features :
- Optimized transmission > 99 % over a given range
- Reduced light loss and ghosting

Typical applications : imaging systems, sensors, laser devices, optical glass.

High-reflectivity (HR) treatments

High-reflectivity treatments Ensure maximum reflection on a specific wavelength or spectral band. Manufactured using dielectric or metallic multilayer coatings, they guarantee a yield greater than 99 % in the visible or infrared range. These coatings are used for mirrors, reflectors and laser systems requiring a high level of high beam purity and a low absorption.

Available versions :
- HR dielectric mirrors: wavelength-selective reflection
- Metal mirrors: aluminum, silver, gold, copper, rhodium - with transparent protective coating
- Selective thermal mirrors: IR radiation management (hot/cold mirror)

Typical applications : imaging, laser, projection, industrial and scientific lighting.

Dichroic and selective treatments

Visit dichroic and selective treatments allow certain wavelengths to be transmitted while reflecting others. These multilayer interference coatings provide precise spectral control and a high thermal stability. They are used for beam splitting, thermal control or the creation of color effects in lighting and optical projection.

Examples of functions :
- Separation of visible and infrared light
- Spectral division for multiband sensors or cameras
- Dichroic reflectors for heat management (hot/cold mirrors)
- Selective-reflection color filters.

UV / VIS / IR spectral treatments

Each spectral range requires a treatment adapted to the material and the application. Our processes cover the entire optical spectrum, from 185 (deep UV) to 5.2 µm (far IR). Coatings are designed to withstand intense luminous flux, to thermal shocks and environmental constraints.

Available spectra :
- UV (185-400 nm): scientific imaging, UV curing, polymerization
- Visible (400-700 nm): observation, measurement optics, lighting
- IR (700 nm-5.2 µm): thermal vision, analysis instruments, CO₂ lasers.

Protective and hardening treatments

These treatments are designed to reinforce mechanical strength, chemical and environmental surfaces. They protect against moisture, scratches, oxidation and contamination. Transparent protective coatings do not alter spectral response, and can be combined with functional optical coatings.

Possible options :

- Abrasion-resistant or hardened coatings for industrial use
- Hydrophobic, oleophobic or antistatic coatings
- Barrier coatings against moisture and solvents.

Metallic and dielectric treatments

Visit vacuum metal deposition (Al, Ag, Au, Cu, Rh) offer a stable reflectivity on a wide spectral range, from near UV to far IR. They can be protected by a transparent dielectric layer, guaranteeing durability and corrosion resistance. These treatments are particularly suitable for parabolic, elliptical or spherical reflectors used in lighting, analysis or projection systems.

Main features :
- Protected aluminum consistent, economical performance
Protected money spectral purity in the visible range
Gold excellent infrared performance
- Rhodium or copper extreme strength and thermal stability.

Customized treatments

Each coating is developed according to application specifications: wavelength, spectrum or angle of incidence, substrate type (optical glass, metal, quartz, sapphire, polymer), thermal and environmental conditions, functional combinations (AR + HR, dichroic + protector, etc.).

Our deposition processes provide the reproducibility, traceability and stability required for the most advanced industrial, scientific and photonic applications.
